The organizing committee feels extremely proud and privileged in extending a hearty invitation to attend, “International Conference on Hazards of Lead on Human Health and Environment” being organized by, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, Karad in association with Indian Society of Lead Awareness and Research (InSLAR), Lucknow and National Referral Centre for Lead Projects in India (NRCLPI), Bengaluru on 22 & 23 October 2016.

Lead is ubiquitous and versatile metal used by humankind for at least 9000 years. Lead in the environment may derived either from natural or anthropogenic sources. Lead and lead compounds have been used in a wide variety of products found in and around our homes, including paint, ceramics, pipes and plumbing materials, solders, gasoline, batteries, ammunition, and cosmetics. Lead and its compounds can enter in the environment at any point during mining, smelting, processing, use, recycling or disposal. We all are exposed to lead through atmosphere air, water, soil, food chain and once lead enters in the body, it affects on the all systems and organs. The biological effects of lead depend upon the level and duration of exposure. In developing countries like India, it is not possible to reduce the use of lead, but it is possible to reduce the exposure of lead by using protective devices.

In this conference, National and International distinguished faculties from various fields like Toxicology, Environmental Science, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Medicine, Biochemistry, Educational Science, Industrial Sciences, Ayurvedic Medicine, Nursing Sciences, Para Medical Sciences, Biomedical Engineers, Haematologist, Laboratory Medicine will come on a single platform to enrich our knowledge and together hopefully we should be able to make some recommendations for policy formulation towards preventation of lead toxicity.

The organizing committee will try its best to make your stay in Karad comfortable and pleasant. On behalf of the organizing committee we extend a warm welcome and hope this mega event will be a memorable one.
